Speaker: Ryan Meyer, Director of Development, Chanticleer Athletic Foundation, CCU
Porter Medley, a long-standing Club Member, introduced our speaker Ryan Meyer, a Director of the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation of Coastal Carolina University. Ryan moved to South Carolina in 2017 to obtain a Masters in Sports Management from CCU. He then worked for the City of North Myrtle Beach where in 2019 he realized $32.4 million from 83 events as Sports Tourism Coordinator, the largest economic impact ever. In August of 2021 he became Director of Development of the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation.
The Chanticleer Athletic Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides financial assistance for CCU Athletics and generates interest in building a comprehensive and competitive NCAA Division I athletic program.
Its mission is to help provide every opportunity for the nearly 450 student-athletes to excel academically and athletically. They accomplish this through the funding of scholarships, enhanced academic support, new and improved on-campus facilities, and unique operational needs for all men’s and women’s intercollegiate teams.
Recently the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation (CAF) has added a new giving program that will enhance the member experience while providing the resources necessary to keep Coastal Carolina University Athletics competitive. These unrestricted gifts will support the 450-plus student-athletes by funding scholarships, academic resources, personal development, sports nutrition, and equipment.
