Speaker: Paula Matthews, PDG, District 7770 Foundation Chair
Brooke Vu, Club President, introduced our speaker Paula Matthews, Past District Governor. Paula is a member of the Rotary Club of Spring Valley, Columbia, SC. She currently serves as the Rotary District 7770 Rotary Foundation Chair.
The Rotary Foundation continues to far exceed the standards set by independent charity-rating services.
The Foundation has earned 13 consecutive four-star ratings from Charity Navigator. 91% of funds are spent on program awards and operations. The Foundation where needed …provides clean water …helps people to read …treats and prevents disease …creates a more peaceful world and …protects mothers and newborns. The Foundation helps communities flourish throughout the world.
For the Rotary year 2020-2021, the Foundation raised $440.9 million. Our district, District 7770, raised $723,575. Our District’s per capita giving was $203.65. Our funds were distributed to Polio Plus ($101,603); District Grants ($160,000); Dominican Republic Global Grant ($50,881); Global Scholars ($50,000); and Rotary Peace Centers ($25,000).
The maximum amount a district can receive from 2021-2022 in District Grants is $2,500. Each Club must match the amount received. Our application must be submitted by Mat 15, 2022. Clubs are encouraged to work together on a grant. Applications can be found on DACdb.
