Speaker: Kelly Moore, Executive Director of the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation (CAF)

Bruce Maggi introduced speaker, Kelly Moore, of the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation (CAF). Kelly reports to CCU President Michael T. Benson, Director of Athletics Matt Hogue, and the CAF’s Board. From 2016 to 2019, she spearheaded a 40% increase in revenue from the annual Chanticleer Gala and led an increase in membership of the of the Student Chanticleer Athletic Foundation from 119 in 2016, to 402 in 2018. Prior to joining the CAF, Kelly was the coordinator of spirit and promotions and the Head Cheerleading Coach at James Madison University. The CAF raises funds for student athletes for summer school tuition, travel, the monitoring of health, and provision of facilities. On June 14 the ‘Plant Your Flag Day’ was launched. Every Chanticleer across the US was encouraged to fly their Chanticleer flag for National awareness. Only nine states were not represented. Kelly sees her role at Coastal as a shepherd for student athletes. She wants to help talented kids that can’t adequately help themselves. Many people during her life provided her important support and encouragement. Kelly moved from Detroit at the age of 12. There she learned to be open minded in a new environment. Once she tried to get a Coke by asking for the Pop machine. She soon learned that a Pop was your dad. ‘Pop’ quickly became her nickname for those that recognized her potential. She became the Aynor High School Cheerleading Coach and later was a cheerleader for Coastal the first year of the football program. Since then, the Coastal football team has been on ESPN 11 times. Kelly can be contacted for more information or to make a contribution to the Foundation by calling her on (843) 349 6610 or by emailing her at kmmoore@coastal.edu.
