Our speaker Christy “Sweet Tea” Andrulonis, a radio personality and country music leader. Christy is originally from Greenville, SC but her husband is from northern Pennsylvania. Jeff made a brief cameo into our Zoom hybrid meeting, Wednesday. Jeff and Christy own 29 radio stations (some different formats than country music) including a number in the eastern half of the Carolinas. “Sweet Tea” has earned numerous broadcasting awards in various states, such as Pennsylvania and New York. She is also a voting member of the Country Music Association (CMA). In addition to being a radio “personality,” Christy has been a leader in promoting regional country musicians from the Carolinas. She created the Carolina Country Music Awards which has had a five year run at the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach. There are plans for the 2021 Awards Show in late January 2021.
“Sweet Tea” promotes new singer-songwriters and is the Executive Director of the Carolina Country Music Association, an industry trade group for singers, songwriters, musicians, and country music fans. The associated Carolina Country Music Foundation supports continuing education for aspiring musicians in subjects such as business, accounting, etc. The Andrulonis stations reach 1.8 million listeners including those tuning in to 93.9 in Myrtle Beach.
