The Rotary Club of Carolina Forest was joined by Tracy Garner, Executive Director, Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach.
Tracy recently became a permanent resident of the Myrtle Beach community and is thrilled with the opportunity to be a part of the Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach Organization. As the new Executive Director, Tracy looks forward to developing strong community relations to better serve and empower the clients Helping Hand serves.
Started in 1971 by several local churches, Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach has been faithfully serving the Myrtle Beach community for over 50 years. Our organizational goal is to assist individuals and families with immediate, short-term needs such as food, rent, utilities, and other specialized services, which if not met, would threaten an individual’s or family’s stability.
“We seek to provide our clients short-term assistance with long-term impact.”
— Executive Director Tracy Garner
Helping Hand has four core areas of service- Food, Rent, Utilities, and Transportation.
Helping Hand provides five days of emergency food, along with hygiene if requested, to individuals and families experiencing short-term need. With available funding, the agency also assists with Rent and Utilities. These services are limited. To discuss these services, the client must have a legal lease showing a monthly rental, a letter from the landlord stating that the client owes rent, and the client must have a copy of the utility bill. When possible, our agency helps clients in crisis with their transportation needs. These services are also limited.
